Emily Russell Thomas is a multidisciplinary artist working across drawing, print-making, sculpture, film, and photography. Her practice centres on the performance of repetitive processes which lead to a sense of meditative joy.
Materials, media and spaces provide the impetus for new work. Observing the inherent properties of a material, or the processes associated with a particular medium, gives rise to the selection of an appropriate repetitive process.
Fundamentally, Emily regards art as a transformative internal process. In this regard, she subscribes to view set out by John Dewey in his seminal essay 'Art as Experience'.
Emily Russell Thomas graduated from Art Academy London in 2020 with BA in Fine Art. She lives and works in London.
